Face Lift Surgery

A face-lift is a medical cosmetic surgery to make your face appear younger overall. The technique involves removing drooping skin, leaving behind wrinkle-free folds of skin along the jawline and cheeks. A flap of skin is pulled back from each side of the face during a face lift surgery. Excess skin is removed, and tissues beneath the skin are modified. To address sagging skin on the neck, neck lifts frequently include face-lifts as part of the procedure. It is important to note here that damage from sun exposure, such as fine lines and wrinkles, cannot be repaired by a facelift.

What to Expect from Face Lift Surgery by Dr Omari

Pre-Procedure

Local anaesthetic, which numbs only a portion of your body, is sometimes used during the treatment along with sedation. In other situations, general anaesthesia, which induces a sleep-like state, is advised.

During the Procedure

A face-lift generally entails lifting the skin and tightening the muscles and tissues. It is possible to shift, remove, or sculpt the fat in the face and neck. The facial skin is then once again wrapped over the freshly realigned facial outlines. The wound is stitched or taped closed after extra skin has been removed.

The technique employed during the treatment will determine the incisions, as well as the patient’s preferences. Following are some of the options to consider with the doctor.

Conventional Face-Lift Incision — begins in the hairline near your temples. It continues to the front of the ears and down. It finishes in the lower scalp, behind the ears. To enhance the look of your neck, a cut may be done beneath the chin.

Limited Incision — starts in the hairline, just above the ear, and is smaller. Although it goes all the way into the lower scalp, it just goes around the front of the ear.

Neck lift Incision — begins in front of the earlobe. It continues into the lower scalp after round the ear. Additionally, a tiny incision is created beneath the chin.

Post-Procedure

Bandages will probably be used to conceal the incisions. Bandages apply light pressure to reduce bruising and swelling. To drain extra blood or fluid, a tiny tube may be inserted beneath the skin behind one or both ears. To reduce discomfort and swelling, it is advised to take prescribed drugs as prescribed and to apply ice packs to the face.

How Much Time Does it Take for a Face Lift Surgery?

Typically, a facelift takes 3 to 6 hours. However, if other cosmetic treatments are carried out concurrently, the time may be extended.
